In 1843 kwam Gerrit uit Vaassen naar Wijhe en diende bij de gouverneur van Overijssel een verzoek in om een "wind-, koorn- en pelmolen" op de Boerhaar te mogen bouwen. Ook nu nog is de molen het bezit van de familie Mentink. Na de electrificatie van de molen is zij van haar wieken ontdaan.
