      Uit oude ansichten:
      Een gedeelte Kerkendijk waarlangs de kern van het kerkdorp Someren-Heide zou ontstaan. Bij de uitgifte van ontginningsgronden reserveerde de gemeente 7 ha waarop later kerk, school, pastorie en Brink zouden verrijzen. Als weiland ligt de gereserveerde grond aan de overkant van de weg. Op de voorgrond een zwaar gewas augurken. De augurkenteelt begon dat jaar in de gemeente op grote schaal. Zij gaf lonende prijzen ondanks de malaise. De foto werd genomen vanuit het zoldervenster van de Theresiahoeve. Achter de korenschoven de boerderij van D. J. van Casteren, die haar spoedig na de bouw doorverkocht aan Nicolaas Menting. Verderop: boerderij Jacobus Spruit.
