    Freddy is overleden op 07-03-1942 in Ned.-Indië in de Indische Oceaan, 18 jaar oud. Hij was als matroos K.V. aan boord van het S.S. Poelau Bras. Het schip werd op 07-03-1942 beschoten en tot zinken gebracht door Japanse vliegtuigen. De Japanners mitraileerden daarna de mensen die zich op een reddingssloep of vlet in zee bevonden. Freddy bevond zich op een vlot en overleefde de beschietingen niet. Dit laatste is aan Ton Wolf bevestigd door Theo van den Berg, die in die tijd zijn ’stapmaatje’ was. Zijn lichaam is ter beschikking van de wetenschap gesteld op 07-03-1942 in Zeemansgraf in de Indische Oceaan als gevolg van Japanse oorlogshandelingen.
