      In 1935 is hij in militaire dienst gegaan bij het 16e Regiment
      Infanterie te Amersfoort. Diensttijd 5,5 maand. Soldij een gulden en
      vijfentwintig cent per week. In september 1939 is hij voor de algehele
      mobilisatie opgeroepen en gelegerd in Achterveld/Hamersveld. Dat duurde
      tot mei 1940.
