Het is de vraag of het huwelijk van Giesbert Schaftenaar en Dirkje Dirks reeds voor 1840 spaak gelopen is. In het Bevolkingsregister van Harderwijk in 1840 komt zij niet voor in het gezin van Giesbert Schaftenaar, dat woonde in de Vulderstraat. Dirkje Dirks is ook niet genoemd bij het overlijden van Giesbert in Amsterdam. Later bij haar overlijden in 1887 is zij weduwe van Drees Gijsbertsen van de Vusse en echtgenoot van Willem Doppenberg.
