Volgde zijn vader op als predikant in Goor (bron: W.J. Fournier in: Goor, dat is mien plaetske)
Data kinderen grotendeels ontleend aan: aantekeningen van Johannes Jacobus Slaterus (1700-1745) en diens vrouw Christina Geertruid Meiling (1701-1780) en aan Walter Tenfelde, Die Prediger der Reformierten Gemeinde der Stadt Lingen (Ems), 1968.
Uit voornoemde aantekeningen:
MDCCXLVI. D. 6 Decemb: is Mijns broeders Zeer Lieve Vrouw Christina Sertorius, dogter van Samuel Sertorius in leven predikant tot Markelo, in den ouderdom van 46 jaaren en ruim 2 maanden door den Heere van Leven en Dood tot zijn eeuwige Vreugde en Heerlijkheid overgenomen en in de Kerke tot Lingen begraven. En het was naeuwelijks 6 weken daarnae, namentlijk d. 23 Jan: 1747 wanneer het God behaegde haaren Man, Mijner Zeer Waarden en Lieven Broeder Zeno Meiling, Curator van de Scholen, Eerste Hoogleeraar in de H. Godtgeleertheid, en Predikant tot Lingen, in den Ouderdom van 53 jaaren, door een Zagten en Zaligen dood van Zijnen Post af te lossen tot overgrote droefheid van mij en nageblevene kinderen, welke 9 zijn, namenlijk

Jacob Henderik, thans predikant tot Markelo
Hoseas, Proponent, nu Predecant te Gildehaus
Johannes, vervolgens predicant te Tubbergen geworden

(Ik had eerst ook nog als zoon #1578, maar die wordt noch in de 'aantekeningen' noch door Tenfelde genoemd; daarom hier doorgehaald).
