Notes about Otto Roelofs Paddinge

Otto en Trijntje doen beiden pasen 1715 (21 en 22 april) belijdenis. Ze waren dus afkomstig van Pesse, hebben korte tijd in Dwingelo gewoond en zijn toen naar Hoogeveen gekomen, waar ze in het Pesser Legeveld of Pesserveld woonden.
De doopdatum is niet geheel zeker. Roelof Otten laat dan een kind dopen, maar noch de naam van het kind, noch de naam van de moeder wordt vermeld. Het zelfde vindt ook
plaats op 4 februari 1692, maar gezien de trouwdatum moet 1682 wel het geboortejaar van Otto zijn, terwijl 1692 het geboortejaar van zijn broer Jan zal zijn. Deze Jan komt later ook naar Hoogeveen en noemt zich Scholten, evenals de zoon Jan van Otto. De nakomelingen van broer Jan Scholten zijn in de 18de eeuw nog naar Dalen vertrokken. Deze broer trouwde te Ruinen 13 augustus 1721 met Hillegien Jans. Mogelijk zijn Trijntje en Hillegien zusters, zodat de naam Scholten bij hun vader vandaan komt.
