Mr. Jakob van Teijlingen, geboren te Alkmaar op 5 december 1569 , begraven in de Grote kerk te Alkmaar op 5 september 1643.

Hij wordt student in de rechten te Leiden 1587, ingeschreven als zodanig te Heidelberg op 9 september 1589, promoveert aldaar (op proefschrift over verhuring en verpachting) in 1592 (Gen. Her. Bladen 1912, blz. 199, noot 3).
Hij werd poorter te Alkmaar op 20 april 1600, nogmaals op 3 mei 1608.
Woonde te Egmond op den Hoef 1613 (Elias: Vroedschap I, blz. 164).
Te Alkmaar koopt hij een huis Langestraat N.Z. op 23 Maart 1629: hij verkoopt er een Langestraat Z.Z. (Transportregisters Alkmaar, akten van die data).
In 1608 komt hij voor als adelborst te Alkmaar ((Oud Holland XL, 1922, blz. 140); hij is heemraad van de Zijpe 1620, hoofdingeland van 14 mei 1636 tot zijn dood, heemraad der Wieringerwaard 1622-1630 (De Navorscher 1920, blz. 195), in de polder De Schermer bezat hij gronden (De Navorscher 1920, blz. 260), kerkmeester der Grote kerk te Alkmaar 1604, 1605, 1611 (De Navorscher 1927, blz. 138), weesmeester aldaar 1614, 1619 (GA Alkmaar: lijst van weesmeesters voor in een der wezenboeken; NA Alkmaar, inv. no. 55 dd. 8 juni 1622 ), lid der vroedschap 26 november 1616, niet gecontinueerd 11 oktober 1618 (C.W. Bruinvis: De Vroedschap van Alkmaar tot 1795, blz. 12), burgemeester van Alkmaar 1615, 1616, 1628, 1635, 1636, 1640, 1643; in loco 1639, 1642.

Hij was Latijns dichter, vertaalde de psalmen in het Latijn en maakte een gedicht in die taal over het beleg van Alkmaar (Nieuw Biografisch Woordenboek, deel II, kol.1426). Onder de door Drebbel vervaardigde kaart van Alkmaar staat een gedicht met de initialen I.T. Waarschijnlijk zal dit van hem zijn, evenals het gedicht dat eertijds in de Grote kerk te Alkmaar hing, over Floris van Teijlingen.
Hij treedt op 2 juni 1633 op als oom en voogd van de kinderen van de dan overleden Jorden Stoop en van Brech ten Steenhuys (transportakte Alkmaar; op 22 september 1634 treedt hij op voor Lijsbeth Pietersdr, wed. Jacob Hendricks Boek (transportaktc Alkmaar). Tenslotte komt hij nog voor het notarieel archief Alkmaar, inv. no. 64, fol. 451, akte dd. 28 april 1627.
