Gehuwd circa 1676 met Dyonisia van WIELANT, geboren circa 1655. Volgens het doopboek te Diever (via Drenlias) zouden Jacob en Dionisia op 17 augustus 1679 nog een kind hebben laten dopen, waarvan de naam niet is vermeld. (DTB 34/5). Het zou in Smilde zijn geboren.
Tenzij het een erg vroege geboorte was (zus Elsjen was op 8 december 1678 gedoopt!) roept dit wel vragen op. Voor zo ver mij bekend werd een doodgeboren kind niet gedoopt.
