hij is op 26 april 1738 te Wouw (NB) getrouwd (2) met Anna Jacobise Martelmans uit Wouw, wonende op Vroenhout, dochter van Jacob Hendrik Martelmans en van Elisabeth Jacobs van der Beek.
Hij verkreeg als erfgenaam van Cornelia Antonisse Lodders, zijn moeder, een perceel land in De Geer en het Moeshofken, ook aldaar gelegen. Anna Martelmans als zijn weduwe en Jan Verbraak als voogd over haar weeskind verkochten in 1750 als erfgenamen van Jacob Hendrik Martelmans een perceel land, genaamd het HalfBuijnder en gelegen in de Slagstraat te Spellestraat, aan Joos de Bruijn, alsmede een perceel land te Spellestraat an Antony Timmermans. Zijn eerste huwelijk sloot Jacob Melsen Gaens op 8 oktober 1730 te Wouw met Petronella van Ackeren, die aldaar op 31 december 1710 was gedoopt als dochter van Leonardus Mertens van Ackeren en van Maria Anthonisse van Bavel. Hij hertrouwde op 1 mei 1738 te Wouw met Anna Martelmans, gedoopt op 3juni 1710,
