Thys en Lipkjen wonen "onder het behoor van" Sneek, buiten de Oosterpoort, op een kleine boerderij. Hun eerste vijf kinderen worden daar in "een huisinghe" geboren; bij de doop van hun zoon Auke staat vermeld "op het Panwerk". Het gezin kanvan het boerenbedrijf nauwelijks bestaan waardoor zij de pacht over de jaren 1744 en 1745 niet kunnen betalen aan de eigenaren, Landheer Claus Oldendorf Coopman en Landvrouw Aaltje Fegter te Sneek. De huurschuld bedraagt 640 Caroli guldens en zij worden, door de nood gedwongen al hun bezittingen, in een hypotheekakte van 4 mei 1746 als onderpand over te dragen aan de eigenaren. Omstreeks 1752 verhuist het gezin naar Abbega waar in december 1753 zoon Jarig wordt geboren. Uit het onderstaande blijkt dat Thys Aukes op 10 februari 1753 is overgegaan naar de Doopsgezinde gemeente te IJlst.
Zij krijgen tot 1763 nog 6 kinderen, in totaal 6 meisjes en 6 jongens.
