Er zijn in de registers van Gent geen Crommelincks te vinden tussen 1600 en 1650. We vinden Guillelmus wel terug in Deinze. Deinze leed veel van de godsdienstoorlogen in de 16de eeuw en de daaropvolgende 80 jarige oorlog en raakte ontvolkt. Het is dus niet zo verwonderlijk dat een of meer Crommelincks naar Gent getrokken zijn.
