Simon Stad was een zoon van Isaac Joel Stad en Marianne Stad-Scheffer.
Het echtpaar Stad kreeg twee dochters, Marianna en Henny die de oorlog heeft overleefd.

Begin april 1945 werden gevangenen uit het concentratiekamp Bergen-Belsen overgebracht naar het concentratiekamp Theresienstadt. Een van de drie daarvoor gebruikte treinen is bij het dorp Tröbitz door het Russische leger bevrijd. Vele inzittenden hebben deze treinreis niet overleefd. Vele inzittenden kwamen in de trein om en vooral door de heersende vlektyfus zijn nog velen in Tröbitz gestorven. Simon Stad en zijn dochter Marianna Stad waren twee van hen.
Marianna is begraven op de joodse begraafplaats, liggende naast het algemeen kerkhof in het dorp Tröbitz. De graven, met het hoofd afgekeerd van de muur van het algemeen kerkhof, waren in drie rijen genummerd. Marianna Stad is begraven in de derde rij, graf nr. 2.
Van de in de trein omgekomen personen zijn 28 op 25 april 1945 in een gezamenlijk graf begraven. Dit gemeenschappelijke graf ligt aan de straatweg naar Wildgrube,vlak voor de grote bocht naar links aan de linkerzijde op de glooiing, ongeveer 20 meter van de straatweg.
Simon Stad is in dit gemeenschappelijke graf ter aarde besteld.
