Dirk is vrijgesteld van militairedienst uithoofde van de eenige wettige zoon te zijn.
Komt op 19-12-1904 van Schermerhorn met zijn gezin naar Alkmaar en gaat wonen Sauwersbuurt D13 later naar Harnemelksbuurt 7. Vertrekt op 12-01-1915 naar Oudorp met zijn zonen Pieter en Jacob. Komt op 20-11-1917 weer naar Alkmaar uit Schoorl en woont op een vaartuig samen met zijn huishoudster Wilhelmina Breet geboren 19-10-1871 te Den Helder en echtgenoot van van der Wal samen met haar dochter Wilhelnina van der Wal geboren 28-05-1903 te Alkmaar en vertrekt op 03-06-1921 naar Heerhugowaard Zuid nr.64 samen met zijn zoon Jacob en huishoudster Wilhelmina en dochter. Komt weer naar Alkmaar op 15-09-1921 van Heerhugowaard terug met zoon en huishoudster en dochter. Ze wonen o.a. op het Acherom 11 en 26
