Notes about Bertha Haagens

Op 21 november 1929 zal David Boers in het huwelijk treden met zijn 2e vrouw. Zij heet Bertha Catharina Haagens. De trouwerij vindt plaats in Middelharnis op Goeree-Overflakkee. Bertha neemt de zorg van haar stiefkinderen Sylvain en Jet op zich. Met name met Jet krijgt zij een goede er warme band. Zij vindt het dan ook verschrikkelijk dat Jet gehoor geeft aan de oproep om zich te melden en naar Westerbork te reizen. Liever had zij gehad dat Jet met David, Bertha en Sylvain in onderduik was gegaan bij de familie Schurink in Apeldoorn. Jet zal de oorlog niet overleven. David, Bertha en Sylvain wel. Na de oorlog zullen zij zich vestigen aan de Prins Hendriklaan in Oud-Beijerland. Zij komen beschadigd de oorlog uit. Vanaf december 1945 zal ook nichtje Clara Amalia Haagens bij hen gaan wonen. Zij is de dochter van de broer van Bertha. Zijn naam is Henri Haagens.
