Daarnaast dient het gedenkteken als waarschuwing tegen hedendaagse vormen van discriminatie.

    Het 'Joods monument' in het stadhuis te Deventer is opgericht ter nagedachtenis aan 401 joodse medeburgers die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog door de bezetter zijn gedeporteerd en omgebracht.
