De boerderij Wakkerendijk 42 werd met ongeveer de helft van de grond na zijn huwelijk overgenomen van zijn vader; Wakkerendijk 44 en de stenen schuren met de andere helft van de grond werden door zijn broer Piet overgenomen.
Hij was jaren kerkmeester en zat in besturen van UMC (Melkfabriek) en KI en melkcontrole.
Net als zijn vader reed hij graag met paard en koets. Na de aanschaf van de tractor en het verdwijnen van het paard als trekdier van de boerderij schafte hij, toen de kinderen wat ouder werden en hem werk uit handen namen zodat hij het rustiger aan kon doen, weer een paard en koets aan. Hiermee maakte hij vaak plezierritjes met zijn vrouw Tiny en vervoerde hij regelmatig bruidsparen en ook jarenlang Sinterklaas bij de intocht in Eemnes.
