In de eerste helft der 16de eeuw behoorde Haijema state en zathe aan de familie Eysma naar het schijnt, want in 1557 verkochten Auck Eysma en Gielt Eysma eenig land, gelegen in "Hayema-staetten tot Collum" aan Tjepke Gerbranda, tweede man van Eesck Popma, die vroeger gehuwd was geweest met Bocke Wattema, welke ook in Kollumerland woonde en in 1551 overleed. Eesck Popma vermaakte de state bij haar overlijden in 1595 aan Eva Eysma en hare broeders en zusters, van wie echter in datzelfde jaar "Hayema-saete" werd gekocht door Wybet Mennes, die vervolgens de naam van de "saete" aannam, dat huis met zijne vrouw Baefke Idsedr. bewoonde en wiens zoon haar in 1640 nog bezat en bewoonde".
