Notes about Jan Pierik

Volgens sommige stambomen is Jan Pierik rond 1845 naar Noord-Amerika vertrokken. Dat blijkt niet te kloppen. Het betreft waarschijnlijk zijn jongere broer Johannes (geb 1832). Ook broer Gert-Jan, die zich in Amerika John laat noemen, Arend (Arnold) en zus Gezina zijn naar de VS vertrokken.

Jan Pierik en Geertruid ten Voorde hebben zich na hun huwelijk in Gronau, net over de grens bij Enschede gevestigd, waar zij in ieder geval een dochter kregen. Zij is in Nederland gaan wonen en ook Geertruid is ergens tussen 1877 en 1901 weer naar Enschede verhuisd, mogelijk kort na de dood van Jan in Gronau.
