De 81-jarige Harry Linskens (foto) uit Venray presenteert op zondag 25 mei in museum de Kantfabriek zijn eerste boek Met Pelerine en Toer. Het boek ondersteunt op een bijzondere wijze de expositie Traditie ontmoet Toekomst, het heeft zelfs als uitgangspunt gediend voor deze expositie. Het is geschreven door Harrie Linskens, de klederdrachtspecialist van museum de Kantfabriek. Het boek beschrijft met vele mooie afbeeldingen de traditionele klederdracht van de Noord-Limburgse bewoners in de periode 1850-1950. Het boek zal daarna te koop zijn in het museum. Er is in de loop der jaren onderzoek gedaan, waarbij duidelijk werd dat ook de klederdracht in Noord- en Midden-Limburg alleszins de moeite waard is. En dat geldt zeker voor het karakteristieke kledingstuk bij uitstek: de toer of toef. Deze imposante hoofddracht met de prachtige tule krijgt in dit boek dan ook de aandacht die het verdient. Omdat Harry Linskens in het boek ook aandacht besteedt aan de kleding van de eenvoudige boeren, werden er meer bronnen geraadpleegd dan bestaande verzamelingen en musea. In het boek worden ook diverse prenten, schilderijen, bidprentjes en foto's getoond, worden oude vertellingen geciteerd en wordt verwezen naar testamenten en boedelscheidingen. In de eerste twee hoofdstukken komt de kleding van mannen en vrouwen afzonderlijk aan de orde. Daarna wordt in meerdere hoofdstukken dieper ingegaan op diversefacetten van de muts en de toer. Ten slotte komen sieraden, rouwkleding en kinderkleding aan bod. Het uiteindelijke doel van dit boek is om een goed beeld van de klederdracht in de afgelopen eeuwen in de mooie streken van Noord- en Midden - Limburg te geven.
