Klaassien huwde met Roelf 13 maanden nadat diens eerste echtgenote Trijntje van der Laan op 29-06-1905 in het kraambed was overleden en kreeg de zorg over de drie (stief)kinderen Martje (8 jr en 11 mnd), Klaas (7 jr en 7 mnd) en Maria (6 jr en 4 mnd).

Alhoewel het van Roelf naar verluidt niet de bedoeling was nog meer kinderen te nemen, beviel Klaassien toch nog van 8 kinderen !!
