JOHN VALK, 69, retired farmer, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton, Iowa, where he had been a patient for the past six weeks. The body was brought to the Sikkema Funeral Home where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted in the First Reformed Church, the Rev. Ray Olthof, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery.
Mr. Valk was born in the Netherlands on Oct 22, 1891. He came to the United States in 1892. He was educated in the Whiteside County schools. He was married to Johanna Vander Shaaf of Newton Township on Aug. 28, 1912. He was a member of the First Reformed Church. Survivors are three daughters, Miss Helen, at home; Mrs. George (Loretta) Wiebenga, Fulton; Mrs. Marvin (Francis) Geerts, Sterling; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, one in infancy and Frank Valk. [Contributed by Melva L. Taylor.
