Harry is geboren als tweeling met zuster Betje.

Harry de Wolf was een bekende inwoner van de Schilderswijk in Den Haag, maar hij kwam uit Rotterdam. In Rotterdam woonde hij 16 jaar lang, tot het bombardement op 14 mei 1940. Harrie werd bokser, overleefde de oorlog en speelde verschillende wedstrijden zowel in als na de oorlog.

Harry ging in de oorlog in de onderduik, en dat was bij een bijzondere familie. Het echtpaar Anthonie Pieter Wetemans en Judith de Graaff boden hem onderdak.
Anthonie was de eigenaar van een sportschool in Den Haag en tevens instructeur. Hij trainde Harry twee keer in de week vanaf 1939 en was een goede vriend van de vader van Harry. De sportlessen gingen ook in de oorlog door, wat niet eenvoudig was.

Het gevaar van de razzia’s maakte het voor Harry noodzakelijk dat hij in de onderduik ging en de familie Wetemans besloot voor hem een plaats te regelen in hun sportclub op het Noordeinde 16. Harry verbleef daar 18 maanden, en zat er in een ruimte die door een valse muur was gecreëerd. Hij had daar een slaapplaats en boeken en deze onderduik werd door Harry als comfortabel omschreven.

De Wetemansen zorgden dat er nog meer mensen bij hen in de sportschool in de onderduik konden, met name een aantal Joodse studenten (H. Boxhoorn, Ies Boxhoorn, Harry Nilsen, R. Erkelens, H. Shaffrath en A V Oosten).

Judith was degene die zorgde voor voedsel, wat vooral tijdens de hongerwinter moeilijk was. Het financiële aspect van de onderduik werd door de Wetemansen nooit ter tafel gebracht. Op 14 april 1986 werden Anthonie en Judith Wetemans door Yad Vashem erkend.
