De confectiezaak Hollenkamp is opgericht door Henri Hollenkamp, een Duitser uit Rüssel (bij Ankum en ten noorden van Osnabrück). Hij had een belangrijk gedeelte van zijn opleiding in België genoten. Hij was daar met een meer luchtige voyante confectiesmaak in contact gekomen. Dat viel in de smaak van de Amsterdammers. Henri Hollenkamp begon zijn 1e zaak aan de Vijzelstraat / hoek Keizersgracht in 1887. Later werden nog 2 filialen geopend in Amsterdam, namelijk Oudezijds Voorburgwal / hoek Oude Doelenstraat en Koningsplein / hoek Singel.
Heinrich Arnold woonde toen in de Vijzelstraat 81.
Op 4 december 1897 is hij bij de wet genaturaliseerd tot Nederlander.

In Hilversum heeft op 15 juli 1896 zijn oudste zoon Hendricus Johannes de 1e steen gelegd voor zijn riante villa op de hoek van de Bergweg en de Paulus van Loolaan.

Verder heeft Heinrich Arnold nog op andere adressen gewoond in Amsterdam, o.a. de Weteringschans 22.
