Artikel "De voorouders van de familie Last te Genemuiden" van A de Leeuw wordt het volgende vermeld:

We kennen hem als Garrit Jakoobs, bij de doop van Harmen, en als Gerrijt Jacob Soeten en Gerrit Jacobs Soetevendt uit de akte van 1736 ( zie hieronder). Later vinden hem terug in de trouwboeken van Kolderveen, want op 2 december 1740 trouwt hij daar als Gerrit Jacobs Soetevent, weduwnaar te Wanneperveen, met Jentje Jans Bouwknegt. Nakomelingen van dit echtpaar gebruiken na 1811 de familienaam Soetevent.

Een akte uit het Oud Rechterlijk archief van Wanneperveen uit1736 vermeld dat de de mombers (voogden) van een minderjarige dochter van Hermen Claas Lassche en Bregjen Jans Fransen, samen met Gerrijt Jacobs Soetens en Bertelt Alberts Boxsen, elk voor een derde deel, een huis, hof , weere, landerijen en turfschuren gelegen in de Schutsloot, verkopen aan Roelof Jacobs Colthamer. Bij het plaatsen van zijn merkteken wordt Gerrijt Jacobs Soetens genoemd Gerrijt Jacobs Soetevendt.

Is op 20-jarige leeftijd op 02-12-1740 te Kolder- en Dinxterveen gehuwd met Jentjen Jans, geboren op 13-01-1720 te Kolderveen, wordt in de trouwacte weduwnaar genoemd.
