Den 11den Juni 1814 te Brugge geboren, overleed hij den 15den December 1886 te 's-Gravenhage als gewezen beambte bij het Departement van Financiën, wien in 1880 bij gunstige uitzondering een pensioen was toegelegd ter erkenning van zijne goede diensten, gedurende 27 jaren verleend bij de liquidatie der voormalige Wees- en Momboirkamers. Op jeugdigen leeftijd verloor François de Jagher zijne ouders; hij werd bij een oom in Frankrijk, en wel te Rijssel opgevoed, waar hij een bloeiend ëcollégeဘ bezocht door paters Jezuieten gehouden.
