Notes about Henri PETER


From 'Les vieilles familles du Sundgau' (ed. 3, page 116): The PETER-familiy was already present in the XVIIth century in Riespach. They allied with families like GAUGLER, SCHMITT and REINHARD. Because they were 'well-to-do farmers', they also had social functions, like Léonard, who - in 1766 - who was sworn in for the 'communauté villageoise'. From his marrige with Anastatia ROSENBLATT was born
Henri, who married (19.2.1776) Madeleine HEYER, daughter of Morand HEYER and Anne BILGER. The couple gave birth to many children, of which Jean (born in june 1783) and Henri (born january 1792). May-be it was Henri the father who wrote the name of his two sons in 1805 on his house in Riespach. Still today the tourists can discover in the center of the town a beautyful house with this inscription: "Heinrich und Johanes Peter von Riespach 1805".' (See coverpage.)
