Notes about Willemgje GROENEVELD

Willemptje Groenveld, the daughter of Adrianus Groenveld. After the death of her husband , Wilemptje traveled to from South Holland to America with her unmarried children. Her married children emigrated later. She died in Harrison in 1889. No marker exists.

She was the first woman settler in Sioux County Iowa. Settlers first met in her sod house for church meetings, but later build a sod church.

A move was made in 1882 to Harrison SD after son Arie went on a land buying trip to South Dakota.
