Notes about Ijzaak VANDERMEER

He was a first cousin, fourth time removed - also third husband of great great grandmother Frederiks. Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1805. He came to America in 1847 and was one of the leaders of the organization of the Holland Colony. He was appointed as commander of the sail ship Pieter Floris by Rev. H. P. Scholte and was financial adviser and leader of the emigrants. He was born in the business world in his native country, but upon his arrival in this country started farming. He died in Pella in 1888 at the age of 83 years

IJzaak van der Meer married 30 March 1822 in Bleiswijk, province Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, to Aaltje van den Bos, who is 20 years aged too and born in Bleiswijk. On 24 June 1822 their first child, Johannes, is born in Bleiswijk. Izaak is then a fisherman.
From November 1823 until April 1845 they have in Overschie, very near Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, another ten children: Cornelia (1823) Jannetje (1825), Dirk (1828), the twins Leendert and Antje (1830), Maria (1833), Neeltje (1836), Izaac (1839), Frans (1842) and Alida (1845).
On 24 July 1846, when his son Johannes, born in 1822 in Bleiswijk (ZH), fishseller, married in Berkel en Rodenrijs (ZH) to Margje Haze(n)broek, born 8 Nov. 1822 in B en R, Izaak lives in Overschie too and is still a fisherman.
In 1849 they emigrated to the Dutch settlement Pella, founded in 1847, in Marion County, Iowa, where his wife Alida van den Bos died in December 1851. Son Johannes (1822) and his wife Margje Hazenbroek emigrated at the same time with the family of Isaac, but in November 2012 not any trace of them could be found in the USA yet.
