Notes about Jeanette Verna van ZEE

Verna was united in marriage with Eugene Hoekman on August 5, 1943 at his parents' home in Corsica, SD. Verna moved to Durham, NC near the military base where Eugene was serving during World War II. When Gene was sent overseas, Verna moved back to Corsica to live with Gene's parents and worked at the local cafe. In 1951, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD. In 1959, the couple returned to Corsica where they owned and operated a grocery store until 1973. They then moved back to Sioux Falls where they have lived since.
