Notes about Hilda Lena WISSINK

Hilda Lena was born on March 20, 1915, in Holland, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Lyda (Essink) Wissink. At age eleven, she moved to a farm near Hull, with her parents and three brothers. On June 4, 1936, she married Arthur Ten Haken in Hull. They farmed at Hull for forty years. In 1976, they retired into town. “Art” passed away on January 15, 1999, in Hull, after more than 62 years of marriage.

In April of 2003, Mrs. Ten Haken became a resident of Pleasant Acres.

She was an active member of the First Reformed Church, where she participated in the women's organizations and taught Sunday school classes. She enjoyed being a homemaker, decorating and cleaning her house. Flowers and birds were a great interest to her, and “She never said no to a piece of pie.” Mr. and Mrs. Ten Haken liked traveling and wintered in Arizona for seventeen years.
