Notes about Hendrikje van WHYE

News of marriage: 05 Apr 1890
Hendrike came to America with her parents in the spring of 1881 onboard teh "Stella", and settled at Alton, Iowa. She was married to Gerrit John Scholten in 1890 and they made their home on a farm near Hospers, Iowa. In the year 1903 they moved to Boyden where she resided until the time of her death. Her husband preceded her in death on November 1, 1912.
She was an earnest member of the First Reformed church for the past forty-two years. She was ill for a long time and her death released her from much severe suffering. In her quiet, unassuming way she radiated the Christian love by her acts of kindness and benevolence to all in need. A sincere faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour, love for the Word of God, and devotion to her family have marked her life throughout as being a true Christian.
