Obit Anthony, the oldest child of Mr. Betten, has succumbed to the ravages of the terrible disease (small pox). He breathed his last breathe Sunday afternoon, and was buried Sunday night. The whole family is confined to their beds at present and no one can tell what the end will be. -Sioux County Herald, July 20, 1882
