He is the great grandson of John Vreugdenhil and Frowena Boer.

Jake Vreugdenhil, age 80, of Lynden, went home to his Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Born November 5, 1928 in Joubert, SD to Case and Tillie (Bos) Vreugdenhil; he moved to the Lynden area with his family at the age of 9. He attended Lynden schools and on January 27, 1956 he was married to Harriet Biesheuvel. Jake was employed at DeJong packing for 32 years; worked 10 years for the City of Lynden; and in his younger years fished in Alaska. An avid outdoorsman, Jake enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and for a number of years played in the Whatcom County fast-pitch league with the NW Washington Implement team. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, where he formerly served as a deacon.
