Notes about Mahlon Karel WISSINK

Mr. Wissink, 70, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Rochester, died unexpectedly Friday (Aug. 15, 2008) at his home from natural causes. Mahlon Karl Wissink was born April 3, 1938, in Mankato. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Mankato State University. He taught for over 30 years. In 1959, he taught science in the towns of Lake Crystal, Willmar, and Northfield. In June 1965, he married Vivien B. Wissink. The couple moved to Rochester, where he taught physics at Mayo High School. He served in a variety of positions within the Rochester School District for the next 25 years. The couple divorced in 1996. He moved to Florida in 1998.

Survivors include his children, Andrew (Naoko) of Mountain View, Calif., Scott (Beth) of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Ted (Lindsay) of Rockport, Maine; one grandchild, Layla; an aunt, Wanda Bates of Manhattan, Kan.; and his fiancee, Helma Larimore of Bradenton, Fla. Visitation for Mahlon Karl Wissink will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. S.E. in Rochester. A graveside service will take place Saturday in Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
