Notes about Jacob Schalcksz KUIJPER

Geneology for KUI(J)PER beginning in 1694 was provided to Mr Peter H Kuyper, Pella Iowa on April 19th, 1968 by H.L. Kruimel, conservator of the Central Bureau for Geneology. Ref Kr/K1/595/68 9/4/1968;
The Kuyper Geneology maintained by Dr Lester Kuyper ends with this record of Jacob Schalkens(on) and was further researched from this point back in history by Dr June Scholten Ellman, EdD.

Information concerning the beginnings of the Kui(J)per history provided by the Central Bureau for Geneology are as follows:
"This family's origins have been traced to the Island of IJsselmonde, South of Rotterdam. All confessed the reformed religion, which has its roots in the teachings of John Calvin. Many Calvanists, including Presbyterians, Moravians and Reformers fled to the United States in search of religious freedom, and in some instances, from religious persecution."

Researchers using the LDS resources may find that the history is easier to trace by using the trade name, as Jacob can be reserached using "Kuipers". He was thought to be a cooper by trade. As people emigrated across borders, names would change to fit how people in the new area would refer to them, thus Jacob Schalken the "Cooper" came to be referred to as Jacob Kui(j)pers

This genology also reseached by by Dr June Ellman, Charlottesville Virginia in 2007, 2008 using a variety of resources now avialable through internet resources.
