    “Die hofstede van Reygersberge(n)” te Wassenaar wordt voor het eerst genoemd in 1546. Maarten Maertensz van Reygersbergh, stamvader van het overgrote deel van de huidige families Rijgersberg/Reijgersberg, huurt in 1584 de hofstede. Dat was in de periode kort na de reformatie waarin katholieken die hun kerk trouw waren gebleven zich buiten de steden vestigden om ongestoord hun geloof trouw te kunnen blijven.
