Aart is op 28-11-1902 vertrokken naar Apeldoorn, in 1947 woonde hij in Barneveld op de Brummelkamperweg 24. laatst wonende te Bronbeel/Arnhem.
Aart is koloniaal geweest, op zijn 23e nam hij dienst bij het K.N.I.L., maar heeft nooit een schot gelost, hij werd in Soerabaja te werk gesteld als geschutsmaker.
In de 2e wereldoorlog was hij controleur bij de voedselvoorziening en is toen een keer beschoten geweest. Het schot miste met recht op een haar na zijn doel, het ging rakelings langs zijnn hoofd.
De betreffende hoed die hij toen droeg, met het gat erin is nog lange tijd bewaard gebleven.
Aart heeft nog geruime tijd bij zijn dochter Lotta in Lunteren gewoond, maar besloot toch om naar Bronbeek te gaan.
Hier deed hij als sergeant portierdienst, deed de post enz.Hij was behoorlijk fanatiek want als er hem een hogere passeerde srong hij meteen in de houding
