Het is de centrale begraafplaats- en gedenkplaats voor landgenoten die omkwamen in het oostelijk deel van de deelstaat Nieder-Sachsen De tekst op de sokkel van het monument "De vallende man" is ter nagedachtenis aan de slachtoffers van het concentatiekamp Bergen-Belsen. Het ereveld telt 417 graven . Verder bevindt zich er een stenen drieluik met de namen van nog eens 108 Nederlandse oorlogsslachtoffers.

Zijnde bij dit vonnis gevoegd een certficaat van de griffier van de vermelde rechtbank op 5 januari 1942 houdende dat op zijn register geen aantekening is geschied van verzet tegen opgestelde vonnis.
