Hij woonde samen met haar aan de Prins Hendriklaan te Soest in het appartementencomplex "Hoog Soestdijk" en tot zijn overlijden in een flat aan de Veenbesstraat 740 in Soest. Iet is enkele jaren later overleden.

In diverse edities van de "Soester Courant" vanaf 1934 tot en met 1940 adverteerde Jan als "De Soester Glas- en Verfhandel E.J. Koudijs", Soesterbergsestraat 52 in Soest.
UIt een advertentie in de Soester Courant van 8 februari 1952 blijkt dat Jan zijn zaak dat jaar heeft verkocht aan de heer J. Brandsma. Deze zet de zaak voort op bovenstaand adres onder de naam "Brandsma Glas en Verf". Nog steeds een gevestigde naam in Soest.
In 1966 woonachtig op Van Lenneplaan 66 te Soest.
