Beroep: Onderwijzer. Op 16 okt. 1877 werd Gijsbertus Stüvel Az., van Hemelum, aan de Tweede Burgerschool in Workum benoemd. In 1881 werd de Eerste Burgerschool met deze school gecombineerd. In 1882 werd er een nieuwe school gebouwd, op de plaats van de vroegere Zuiderschool (Wijk D). Stüvel kreeg op 29 april 1886 eervol ontslag, wegens vertrek naar Sneek op 1 juli van dat jaar.Hij werd op 1 sept. 1886 opgevolgd door B. Jonkmans, die voordien in Terband werkzaam was.
