Notes about Hubertus Adrianus Gerritsen

GERRITSEN (Hubertus Adrianus), geb. te Milligen 29 Sept. 1818, overl. te Nijmegen 23 Aug. 1873, was een zeer bekend figuur onder de bijzondere onderwijzers van zijnen tijd. Hij werd te Tiel voor het onderwijs opgeleid en kwam, na gelijk dat destijds heette, den derden rang te hebben verkregen, als secondant op het instituut de Jong te Nijmegen. Drie jaren later werd hij, nadat hij eenigen tijd waarnemend hoofd-onderwijzer te Tricht was geweest, aldaar gouverneur bij de familie Bisdom, die hem met den stichter der school op den Klokkenberg, Mr. J.J.L. van der Bruggen (kol. 484), in aanraking bracht. Nadat hij op diens aandrang gedurende enkele uren per week aan die school onderwijs had gegeven, nam hij later de geheele leiding der inrichting op zich (1848) en bracht deze tot grooten bloei.
