Johannes Maritz, gedoopt te Bürgdorf den 11 April 1680, overleden te Genève 18 dec. 1743, werd burger in 1700 en huwde 16 Aug. 1700 Catharina Vögeli, die 28 Oct, 1736 te Genève overleed. Zij hadden drie kinderen:
1. Johannes Maritz, gedoopt 16 Juli 1711. huwde in 1735 Judith Déonne.
2. Samuel Maritz
3. Susanna Catharina Maritz, gedoopt 31 Juli 1701; huwt in 1736 Jean Pierre Jacobi. Zij sterft 16 April 1751


Johannes Maritz was geschutgieter en uitvinder van den horizontalen boorbank en van het vol en niet over den kern gieten van het kanon. Hij leverde den 12 Juli 1714 zijn eerste proefstuk, hetwelk zoo voldeed, dat hem door de regeering van Bern de vervaardiging van 41 stukken geschut werd opgedragen.
