Notes about Mathys Freerks

Bij zijn huwelijk in 1743 komt hij van De Rijp (= Jutrijp). In de quotisatiekohieren van 1749 komt hij ook voor: " Matthijs Freeks, Jubbega-Schurega, Schoterland. Omschrijving: arbeyder. Gezin volw: 2 en kind: 1. Aanslag: 14-1-0. Bron: Schoterland, fol. 5.
Matthijs Freerks was in 1749 arbeider en in 1761 schipper van beroep en woonde blijkbaar in 1761 in De Compagnie, zoals blijkt uit het volgende document: " JOHANNA JOSEPHS, to Skuorregea is 50 jier. Is mei in mannich oaren op sneon 19-12-1761 nei ithûs fan skipper Matthijs Freerks gien yn De Kompenije..Dêr hat hja de frou Wijpk Tjalkes mei in stôk op 'e holle slein. Moat 14 dagen op wetter en brea (177-29-3-1762)."
Bij dezelfde overval was ook Christina Pijters betrokken. Merkwaardig is hier wel, dat er in het tweede bericht niet meer van Johanna Josephs, maar van Johannes Josephs wordt gesproken. " CHRISTINA PIJTERS, to Skuorregea, hat mei Anthony Paulus, Johannes Josephs en Hillebrand Oedes op sneon 19-12-1761, elk wapene mei in kneppel der op út west. Hja giene nei 't hûs fan skipper Matthijs Freerks, âld 50 jier. Doe't dy syn frou, Wypk Tjalkes, âld 48 jier, by de doar kaem wie it daliks dek op, sadat hja foar dea lizzen bleauw. Doe't Matthijs en syn soan Freerk har gûlen heard hiene, spatten dy der op ta en ha har ta de doarren útslein. Moat 14 dagen op wetter en brea. (177-29-3-1762)
