Volgens Edward Boeren (http://www.edwardboeren.eu/boeren-iii/) komt Nicolaas uit ¨Ginc in het Land van Kleef¨. Mogelijk Gink, een boerderij of gehucht bij Erkrath (NRW) of Ginnick, bij Vettweiss

Maar Ginc lijkt echter een verkeerde transcriptie; het handschrift komt meer overeen met Fine. Mogelijk is dit Veen, een dorpje bij Xanten in het hertogdom Kleef, of Vynen, tegenwoordig een wijk van Xanten.
