Notes about Margaretha "Gretha" van der Meulen

Gretha van der Meulen werd geboren in Den Helder en groeide op in ’s-Gravenhage (1908-1915) en Haarlem (1915-1929) met twee broers en drie zussen. In Haarlem hadden haar ouders een bakkerswinkel in de Esschilderstraat waarboven zij woonden. In 1929 verhuisde ze met haar echtgenoot Ippe Konings (1906-1978) naar Amsterdam (Indische Buurt, Dapperbuurt). In Amsterdam werd hun zoon Ippe (1933-1998) geboren. In 1941 verhuisden zij terug naar Haarlem en tussen 1942 en 1947 woonde zij met haar gezin op het landgoed Auberghof in het plaatsje Trittau, net buiten Hamburg. In 1947 keerden zij terug naar Haarlem en vestigden zij zich aan de Vondelweg. Begin jaren ’50 werd zij succesvol geopereerd aan borstkanker, maar de ziekte keerde later terug. Ze overleed in 1960 op drieënvijftigjarige leeftijd alsnog aan kanker.
