Notes about Johannes "Hannes" Konings

Hannes Konings groeide op in de buurt van het huidige Nieuw-Vennep in de Haarlemmermeer samen met vijf broers en drie zusters. In Haarlem was hij enige tijd diaken bij de Hersteld Apostolische Gemeente. Hij werd vrijgesteld van militaire dienst wegens ‘lichamelijke gebreken’. Na zijn huwelijk met Bartje Butter vestigde hij zich kort in Alkmaar waar ook hun oudste zoon Adriaan (1905-1943) werd geboren. Het gezin verhuisde echter al snel naar Haarlem. Aldaar werkte hij als plantsoenarbeider op de begraafplaats Kleverlaan met zijn broers Leendert (1882-1926) en Paulus (1889-1964). In Haarlem werden ook hun negen andere kinderen geboren: Ippe, André (1907-1976), Siem (1908-1977), Joop (1909-1983), Bart (1911-1981), Aaf (1912-1979), Annie (1918-1995), Aag (1920-2014) en Lena (1922-1991). Tijdens de Duitse bezetting hielpen hij en zijn echtgenote de latere schoonouders van hun jongste dochter, Salomon de Vries (1894-1954) en Carolina Urbach (1894-1989), onderduiken. Tussen 1948 en 1950 woonde ook kleinzoon Johan Konings (1941-2018) bij hun in huis omdat zijn vader Siem in Nederlands-Indië verbleef.
Na het overlijden van zijn vrouw trok hij in 1955 in bij zijn dochter Aaf en haar gezin in Zaandam.
