Johan Huydecoper van Maarsseveen (Amsterdam , 1599 - aldaar?, 26 oktober1661) was een koopman, financieel specialist, projectontwikkelaar, ridder , heer van Maarsseveen en zes keer burgemeester van Amsterdam . Hij behoorde tot de patricierfamilie . Tussen 1650 en 1660 was hij nauw betrokken bij de bouw van het stadhuis op de Dam en verstrekte diverse kunstenaars opdrachten om schilderijen te leveren (Wikipedia)

He leeds a vehement opposition to the marriage of his sister in law Aletta Maria Coymans with Carel Voet, calling the intended union "a scandalous alliance"
Huydecoper was alowed, after his father's death to call himself "Huydecoper van Maarseveen" after the family manor. He became a member of the Amsterdam council in 1662.
