Personal data Aletta Maria COYMANS

Household of Aletta Maria COYMANS

She is married to Carel VOET.

The entire family protested vehemently against the intended marriage of Aletta Coymans ans Carel Voet, a man of such low birth as to be described as the descendant of a "scabrous race". his father was said to have been " an impostor and cheating dice player", and the reputation of his mother and sister were very bad", wrote Johan Huydecoper, who was married to one of Aletta's elder sisters (Sophia Coymans 1639-1720). This marriage would mean, he said " a scandalous alliance for all of us". The Coymans family ran one of the most distinguished trading house in Amsterdam; the Huydecopers were a prominent regent family.
But Aletta had the support of her mother, Sophia Trip (1595-1653).

They got married on May 10, 1661 at Amsterdam-, she was 20 years old.
