Notes about Hendrik van der Eem

Heer van de Eem, vanaf 1275 genoemd in meerdere aktes. 1284 staat hij samen met Gijsbrecht Bokel borg voor de heren van Amstel. 1296 verliest hij zijn positie omdat hij na de moord op Floris V als partijganger van de moordenaars wordt gezien. Tijdens de Zeeuwse opstand van 1303 heeft de graaf Jan van Avesnes echter alle hulp nodig die hij kan krijgen en verzoent zich o.a. op 31 mei met Gijsbrecht. Gijsbrecht verklaart dat hij de moordenaars van Foris op geen enkele wijze meer zal ondersteunen en er alles aan zal doen om ze uit het graafschap te houden. Het huwelijk van zijn kleindochter Hadewich met de kleinzoon van Jan van Avesnes bevestigde later deze verzoening.
